Dowel Rod Overs Cues:
- Start exercise in a standing position: feet shoulder width, core engaged, dowel rod held at waist with arms extended (hold toward the ends), shoulders back, and chest up.
- As you keep your body in a neutral position (no swaying) lift the dowel rod overhead then behind you with as much range of motion that you are capable of doing.
- Return to start position in a controlled movement for one rep.
Ideas for Exercise Uses:
- Perform as a warm-up exercise prior to an upper body strength workout.
- Add to shoulder functionality exercise after an injury to increase blood flow and joint range of motion.
- Use as a shoulder movement drill before volleyball workouts to open up your swing for spiking the ball.
